I was looking for an all in one box solution to manage my 11 Phanteks D30 fans, and was advised to get this. To be fair, I didn't do much research. However upon opening it I discovered multiple design issues. First of all, only 2 Nexlinq ports, but only 1 Nexlinq cable. Sure there's also 1 Legacy port, but what use is that, when you've so many Phanteks fans. There's no splitter, no way to daisy chain fans that are separated in any clean fashion, if at all. And, why does it require a 6pin pcie power connector?
By and large, Phanteks make great products... Honestly, I've been a fan of them for years, ever since I got the P600s case. And I really wanted the D30 fans, which are fantastic, even if the connection implementation isn't the best. But, if you want to build an ecosystem, how about thinking about how all this stuff should work together?
Only 2 link up points makes it hard to control fan speeds, I think when you add something to a motherboard, it should add features. It shouldn’t remove them. If you could hook the fans up directly to the motherboard, you would have better control, and that shouldn’t be the case. Certainly not at this price point.
Can't wait to install the nexlinq in my nv7. Phanteks' ecosystem looks very nice so i went with 9x d30 fans, the nv7, this hub and the nv7 rgb led kit. Fast shipping to Canada (7-9 days).
